The latest technology added to its ample collection, it’s the rear collision warning system. The technology will be added to the Lexus range, already crowded with technological advances….hybrid technology, 3-mode air suspension, power door/trunk closers, 30GB HDD navigation system, Bluetooth, backup camera, 450-watt Mark Levinson sound system with 19 speakers, dynamic radar-based cruise control and Intuitive Park Assist.

The state of the art touch screen technology from Synaptics has found a good partnership with Pilotfish's user interface and industrial design expertise. Both companies have joined efforts to develop the Onix concept. Onix is anew approach to the mobile phone industry moving from a device functionality design to a activity based designed. The Onix mobile will integrate phone, GPS, music, teleconference and calendar events.

The internet giant Google is very concern about the use of its trademark name “Google” in reference to the activity o search in the web. According to the Google people, the misused of the company name can lead to a serious damage of its image. The bottom line here is that for Google the difference between using the word Google referring to the use of Google to search the web and using it referring to a general activity to search de web, is fundamental.

New Power Tools

Inventors at the Tel Aviv University have developed a microwave drill that can bore through concrete or glass without major problems. The technology works by preheating the material to be drilled by using microwaves. The material can reach the 2000 degrees Celsius, and then the drill can work without dust, noise or major delays. The drill bit emits intense microwave radiation creating a hot spot around the bit, melting or softening the material so that the bit can be pushed in.

It seems that we are witnessing the creation of some sort of market niche in the entertainment internet capable devices……The new players until now are Sony and Nokia. Sony has launched a device called Mylo that is based on a wireless internet connection (802.11b). The main characteristics of this gadget are its performance on instant messaging and internet calling using Skype.

Ok, this is the one that I want….the only problem is that costs more than US$3,500. The device released by Dell at the Consumer Electronic Show 2006 has an impressive design with functionality, which I can say will set a new parameter for laptops.

There is some news about the popular Microsoft’s Office suit. Since the release of the Office 2007 beta, more than 3 million people have downloaded the software. The software giant is planning to charge users for downloading the beta version based on the “high costs” of the operation for the company.
