AMD brings technology development to New York
June 26th 2006 12:30
Just when we thought that China was the centre of the most important investment in technologies nowadays, New York is attracting technology investment through special incentives. AMD was attracted from an incentive of 1.2 billion on cash and some other additional incentives. Albany in New York is making plans to become the next Silicon Valley, hence the necessity to assure that AMD will become a key investor there. AMD and the state of NY investment will be around $3.2 billion in the area and in a 600 acre state of the art plant.
AMD’s plant will represent 2000 jobs in the area along with investment in core nanotechnology technology development through the Computational Centre for Nanotechnology Innovations (CCNI). Also AMD is investing at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University of Albany.
The announcement of the project viability was announced by AMD Chief Executive Hector Ruiz and New York Gov. George Pataki.
