Biodegradable packaging materials
May 16th 2006 13:16
The other day I heard somebody talking about biodegradable packaging materials, despite this is not a new idea, I got pretty impressed when I saw a chocolate box inner package (those little trays that companies use to put their fancy chocolates in boxes) melts in the water in less than 15 minutes.
Nowadays, that we are looking for environmental friendly technologies, I want to go a step forward and ask for a packaging material that at the end could be used to feed our pets…imagine a pizza box that can be transformed in food for your fish…of course you will have fish food for several months but the idea is still good.
Usually packaging materials are made of Polyethylene resin, which comes from natural gas, and polypropylene, which is derived from crude oil. The packaging costs accounts for nearly 10% percent of the total product cost.
Since the price of petrol is reaching the sky, the new breed of packaging materials based on corn, wheat or potatoes starch, and Polyactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable extract of corn, are a good option.

We ran across your site and i have some ideas to share about “Biodegradable Packaging” it offers eco friendly, non toxic and sustainable products. This products design to decompose quickly, completely and safe without leaving any residues. Its 100% no harm to human and enviroment.
Thanks, we'll come back often.
