Digital cameras on fire
June 7th 2006 13:10
As technology advances, people have to face new threats. Threats like the HP's R707 digital camera, that could get on fire if you don’t take care of using rechargeable batteries. HP has issued a recall for at least 679,000 digital cameras worldwide. The hazard of fire exists due to the overheating of common batteries that receive charge when the device is connected to an A/C adapter. The batteries overheat causing the camera to get on fire.
HP has developed a firmware that fixes the problem. The firmware can be downloaded at the HP webpage. The solution offered by the company leads to some questions because if some software can fix the problem, then a virus can generate it. In a world that is heading to a wireless interaction amongst appliances this could become a serious threat…..something to think about… huh
