Environmental friendly technology in cars
April 18th 2006 09:17
As the global pressure on the use of environmental friendly technology grows and the petrol prices increases dramatically, car manufacturers have become more aware of this new market and are working in hybrid cars; companies like Toyota, Honda, and Ford as well as European manufacturers are backing this technology.
Developments in hybrid technology not only will be seen in medium range cars but in the Luxury segment. Toyota has launched his LS 600h L that uses a 5.0 liter V8 engine backed with two powerful electric motors to develop over 430 horsepower. This car uses a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) instead of the 8-speed unit used in previous models and features all-wheel drive.
The technology involved in this luxury car gives it the performance of a V12 luxury car with the fuel efficiency of a comparable V6 model.
