HD DVD Vs Blu-ray
April 4th 2006 09:26
In the war between the next generation DVD formats Blu ray and HD DVD, Toshiba throws a big swing launching the first HD DVD player. The launch was on 31 March in Japan.
Whilst the war between the Blu-ray format, developed by Sony Corp, and the HD DVD format, championed by Toshiba Corp continues, a third approach comes from LG who is planning to launch a dual format player this year.
The price of the Toshiba HD DVD player will be around US$1000 whilst the price of the
Panasonic Blu-ray player will be around US$1500.
A critical difference between the formats is in terms of capacity a double layer HD DVD has a max capacity of 30 gigas whilst a double layer Blu-ray disc has a max capacity of 50 gigas.

But I agree with you the more capacity the better.
