Microsoft's alternative to iPod

July 7th 2006 10:42

The iPod market is threatened by a portable media player that has been developed by Microsoft. Unlike failed efforts from manufacturers like Sony, Microsoft has real possibilities to overcome the market barriers of a three dimension product like the iPod. The Ipod has three dimensions since customers have to consider the device itself, the software and the online services (iPod – iTunes).

The main characteristic of the Microsoft’s portable media player is going to be its wireless capability bringing new possibilities for users to play with music sharing or downloading. The Microsoft’s platform windows Vista and a windows media player 11 will be backing this new device. There is no doubt that the partnership developed by Microsoft with MTV will bring a more appealing music style and services.

There is no doubt that if Microsoft wants to get a big bite of iPod’s market, it should consider not only the functionality but the style…..iPod is not only a mean to listen to music but a fashionable article.
