Microsoft’s 3D interactive technology
July 21st 2006 12:23
Microsoft has licensed its “TouchLight” technology to EON Reality Inc. as part of it IP ventures program. The program objective is to exploit new technologies developed initially by Microsoft but improved to a market level by the partner companies. The technology is associated with 3D images allowing user interactivity with such images.
Despite that for now EON is focusing efforts in the development of institutional marketing tools based on the technology, the technology could be available for desktops within 24 months. Main applications will be dynamic marketing displays, product demonstrations and interactive training experiences. Within the next two years, EON estimates that the technology will be used in stores to facilitate advanced shopping experiences and interactive technical support with products and assemblies appearing to float in the air during interaction. EON estimates that within the next 24 to 36 months this technology could be affordable enough for desktops.
