Optical technology for a new generation
April 29th 2006 13:50
The optical technology for mobile applications doesn’t have limits……an Israeli company called Lumus has developed an optical imaging technology that will allow the development of ultra-compact displays for mobile devices. This technology is called Light-guide optical element (LOE), the technology enables a device to project the image in to the viewer’s eye..awsome…the image is displayed in the visual field of the viewer.
The product that enables this process is a Head Worn Display that can be worn as a pair of glasses. The user can see through the virtual image while the normal field of vision of the real world is unobstructed. Another application is for drivers or pilots; the technology projects the instrument’s data enabling the user to be aware of the performance of the vehicle without taking his eyes out of the route.
The displayed image can be acquired from any source, including a remote camera or remote PC that transmits the image via WiFi, IR or cellular communications.
