Quality disc labelling at Home
July 25th 2006 13:35
Have you ever thought about another way to label CDs or DVDs instead of the traditional sticky paper labels or markers?????, well there is another way…..Verbatim has developed a new technology that allow users to create a silkscreen quality label on the cover side of the disc. The technology called Lightscribe uses a special coating process on the label side of the disc that reacts chemically when a laser beam is applied to it.
I know that it’s easy just to write something on the disc but with this technology the possibility to have good looking discs without complaints of co-workers, classmates or even family members because of unintelligible marker labels or disc drives getting jammed by the unreliable sticky paper labels.
The technology was developed by Verbatim’s parent company, Mitsubishi Kagaku Media Co., Ltd., (MKM) in collaboration with HP. So don’t worry there will be LightScribe friendly drives in the market soon thanks to HP.
