The new justice allied is called GPS technology

May 15th 2006 13:10
GPS technology is more than an aid for clueless drivers or customers trying to find their freight. The department of corrections and rehabilitation from California announced that its parole agents will begin using GPS technology to monitor the home position of 1800 high risk sex offenders in relation of school and residences.

In the past the agents used to drive the streets and measure the distance by themselves, a work that doesn’t add any value and is not as accurate as the GPS technology.

The use of the GPS technology was announced after The Schwarzenegger administration Wednesday dismissed its director of the prison system's parole division, Jim L'Etoile. There were complaints about 23 offenders housed within 11 miles of Disneyland.

Another experiment has been carried out, in which 417 high risk offenders are monitored using GPS bracelets. Each GPS bracelet costs eight dollars forty five cents a day. A state law approved the use of 2500 bracelets over the next four years and State Senator George Runner is looking forward for a November ballot measure for using lifetime GPS bracelets on every sex offender on parole.
